Lucius Annaeus Seneca the Elder (/ ˈsɛnɪkə /; c. 54 BC – c. 39 AD), also known (less correctly) as Seneca the Rhetorician, was a Roman writer, born of a wealthy equestrian family of Corduba, Hispania.
